Grant School's Mission:

To continue the philosophy of a physically and emotionally safe environment by promoting open communication with students, parents, and staff while providing an optimal education for a complex, changing world.

Grant school's history begins in 1882 with bonds from the City Council totaling $5,500. The first building was built in 1885 and named after Ulysses S. Grant. It had six rooms, was two stories, and had a bell tower. It stood where the playground is now. In the 1920's two small buildings were built to hold the over flow of students. New Grant was built in the 1930's. Then in 1955, "Old Grant" was torn down and additions were built.

Some of Norfolk's leading citizens are Grant Alumni and also some celebrities, including Johnny Carson and Don Stewart. Who knows what present and future students will accomplish!

To raise money, our students are collecting Box Tops for Education and Campbell's product labels. If you would like to donate labels or box tops please drop them off or mail them to the school. We will use the money raised for a good cause, the education of our children!
