Dear Parents/Guardians,

Wow!  Where has the time gone?  The last month of the school year is upon us and summer break is not far away.  It seems as if we just got started with this school year!  We are winding down this current school year at Lincoln and students and staff are looking forward to the day where they can relax this summer.  A lot has been accomplished this school year and I am very pleased with how the year has gone.  Without your help and support along the way, we wouldn’t have been able to accomplish half of what we have this school year.  I want to thank you for that.

The Lincoln PIC group has done another outstanding job of advocating for students and parents.  They have put in a great deal of time and energy into making Lincoln a better school for all students.  Thank you!  Chris Griffith, Jan Jensen and Karen Pochop have done an outstanding job of leading PIC this year.  Their leadership and vision has made PIC even that much stronger.  Again, I want to thank these ladies and everyone who has been involved with PIC this year.  Our school is a much better place because of everyone’s involvement.  As a reminder, the Drug Free Picnic and Carnival will be held on Friday, May 16th starting at 6:00 p.m.  This will be a fun way to wind down the school year.  We hope to see you all there!

All of you should have received the letter informing you that I will not be the principal of Lincoln next year.  Mrs. Jo Roberts will be the new principal.  Currently Mrs. Roberts is one of the co-principals at Jefferson Elementary here in Norfolk.  Mrs. Roberts has already been over to meet with our staff.  During the month of May, she will be introduced to our students.  Mrs. Roberts will do an outstanding job leading Lincoln Elementary.  I want to thank all of our students, staff and parents who I worked with during the time I was at Lincoln.  I will greatly miss working at Lincoln and I will miss the friendships that I have made.  Please stop over and say “Hi” to me at Washington Elementary here in Norfolk.  I will also continue to be the principal at Montessori School as well.  Again, it was a pleasure to get to work with all of you and your friendship and support will never be forgotten.

It is important that students stay motivated during the summer to read and work on their math facts.  We don’t want students to lose what they have gained during the school year.  One way to do this is to have your child involved with the library summer reading program.  This year it is titled, “Catch the Reading Bug.”  To participate, all you need to do is go to the public library and register.

During the month of May, there will be no more charges on lunch accounts.  All past charges will need to be taken care of before school is let out.

I hope that you and your family have a great summer break.  Please take the time to rest, relax and read.  We look forward to seeing you come back in August!

Sincerely,
