Primary teachers at Woodland Park requested funds to assist them in purchasing materials to supplement the Step Up to Writing program. The goal of the project is to achieve 95-100% mastery on the fourth grade writing test by making sure that students are able to write clear, organized sentences and paragraphs at a much earlier age. Reproducible student materials, scoring rubrics, step-by-step guidelines for lessons, activities, and strategies, ideas for curriculum integration, topics for writing prompts and a sequencing of skills for writing strategies are among the items of support that will be available to teachers involved with this project.
