Fourth and fifth graders will take a multicultural trip throughout the ages and across the globe using bread as a common denominator among people of the world. They will have opportunities to hear guest speakers, make a variety of different types of bread, and create timelines showing its history. Parents and a cross-section of community resources will participate in the various activities throughout the year. “Take a Trip Day” will invite other classes at Northern Hills to become involved with the project. Student created anthologies will showcase their use of the district’s Step Up to Writing Program and their personalities as writers. Funds from the grant will be used to purchase journals, books and writing materials for students as well as needed baking supplies.
