Superintendent's Welcome
Dr Marlene Uhing
September 01, 2007
Greetings and welcome to the new school year. I hope the commencement of the 2007-08 school year has been successful for you. A new year is an exciting time because it signals a new beginning. I am so pleased to be a part of the Norfolk school district team and the Norfolk community. I have been working to get to know people and I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome. It is obvious that Norfolk is very proud of their community and schools.
The guiding principle of our district is improving achievement for ALL students. The most important factor in student achievement, above and beyond any other, is the quality of the teacher in the classroom and their focus on effective instructional strategies for all children. Our staff is dedicated to making our schools great places to learn, through a focus on building supportive, positive relationships in a culture of academic excellence. We are very proud of our school and the dedicated teachers and administrators of the district, and most of all, our students.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to send me an email, call, or visit. We are looking forward to working collaboratively with you as we continually strive to improve our comprehensive educational system. The Board of Education, and our Administrative and Central Office team, join me in wishing you, and your children, a successful school year.
Thank You
On behalf of the Norfolk board of education, administration, and staff, we would like to thank all parents and patrons who serve on committees, help with the Booster Club and PTO activities, and all who give of their time and talents to our school district and children. Thanks to the community of Norfolk for supporting the last bond election which allowed us to continue to improve learning environments for students.
